 Frequently Asked Questions About Overdraft Protection Services Through Courtsey Pay

 
1.      Is there any cost for the service?
There is no cost for signing up for the service. You will however, pay the standard overdraft fee any time the credit union pays a transaction that exceeds your account balance.
2.       If I already have overdraft protection linked to another credit union account do I still need this service?
This service would be available only if the funds in the other accounts are insufficient. This service covers overdrafts including fees up to $300.00 for individuals and up to $500.00 including fees for businesses.
3.         If I sign up for overdraft protection will my debit card and ATM transactions always go through?
No. It is always at the discretion of the credit union whether to pay a transaction or not. If the account has a satisfactory history the transactions will be paid up to a total of $300.00 for individuals and $500.00 for businesses including applicable fees.
4.        What about automatic debit card payments that I set up with a merchant?
Debit card purchases that are set up to bill automatically (like an internet service provider) may continue to be authorized at our discretion even if you do not sign up for the service.
5.       What if I decide I don have this service?
Beginning August 15, 2010 everyday debit card and ATM transactions, that would cause insufficient funds in the account will be declined. The merchant’s response must be handled by you. (For example the meal at a restaurant has already been eaten). Emergency situations such as the need for gas or a car tow will be declined.
6.       How do I sign up if I want the service?
Contact Member Service at 972-285-8951for the form to opt in or out of Courtsey Pay for atm and debit cards, access the option on the internet banking site or contact us by mail at: 1510 N. Galloway, Mesquite, Tx 75149.  If you decide later you do not want the service you may opt out at any time using the methods listed above.

Important Notice

The rates under Member's Choice Credit Life Insurance coverage on any insured loan will be increased effective November 1, 2009.  The reason for the rate adjustment is one of needing additional premium to pay claims on the increasing number that are occurring.  The increase in premium could result in a higher last payment or may extend the duration of the loan.  The new credit life insurance rate per $100.00 of outstanding loan balance is $.066 for the single insured plan and $0.99 for the joint insured plan.

There is no action necessary on your part to continue your coverage if you already have it.   In the event you do not want coverage to continue, please notify the credit union directly at 972-285-8951.

 

 


 

 Saving Starts @ Home: The Insider Story on Conserving Energy, available at www.ftc.gov/energysavings, offers energy conservation tips to help consumers save money in every room of the house.  For example, for the attic, the FTC explains the ABCs of insulation.  Among other tips for the kitchen, consumers find advice on using the newly redesigned EnergyGuide labels available for all appliances.  

Consumers can also find tips for improving fuel efficiency from bumper to bumper on a car, at www.ftc.gov/savegas . For example, in the trunk, the FTC advises that an extra 100 pounds of weight can reduce fuel economy by up to 2 percent.  Under the hood, replacing clogged air filters can increase gas mileage up to 10 percent.
